Cellact participated in the Flag of Lights project for Elem. The Company contributed in two main ways:
- Gathering SMS donation data from various cellular operators, and transferring it to Elem - the Association for Youth in Distress
- Routing SMS donation data in a unified format to Gil Teichman Ltd., which was responsible for lighting the Flag of Lights, the largest Israeli flag in the world! The lights were lit according to the donations received.
More than 150,000 SMS messages were sent and NIS 1 million, or one quarter of all donations, were collected during the three-week campaign. All income from the project, including Cellact’s activity, was donated to the association.
The project combined a range of functions including reverse billing, SMS routing from all cellular operators, donation gathering by various codes (donations were either NIS 5 or NIS 10), and project coordination between several groups including Elem, the Israel Electric Company, Gitam, Gil Teichman, Orange, Cellcom, Pelephone and Mirs Communications
